A NEW TOM CRUISE MOVIE TO BE SHOT AT THE WORLD'S FIRST SPACE MOVIE STUDIO
For a new film set in space, Space Entertainment Enterprise will create a studio on Earth's orbit. It will be the world's first movie studio associated with the International Space Station.
The unique studio, called Space Entertainment Enterprise-1, is scheduled to be built by 2024. It is planned that the studio will be a module for the ISS, and its width will be just over six meters.
Axiom Space, based in Houston, will build and equip the studio. The company already has its own commercial module for space tourism on the ISS. The company's project is called Axiom Station. After the module SEE-1 will be ready for launch, it will be docked to the site Axiom and through it - to the ISS. On this work NASA is allocated 140 million dollars.
It is planned that the creators of the site will work on it over their own content. In addition, the new space will be able to take advantage of all comers. For example, in the future, artists, producers and other creators of creative projects, which require microgravity conditions. The new module will be used for filming films, organizing live broadcasts of sports and music events and producing other entertainment content.
"The addition of the SEE-1tc entertainment center to Axiom Station's commercial module will make the station even more useful to users and expand the opportunities that the new space economy offers," commented Axiom President and CEO Michael Saffredini.
Space Entertainment Enterprise is owned by entrepreneurs from Russia. It is currently producing a film with Tom Cruise. About the new picture is known only that its action will take place in space and that the new project has nothing to do with the blockbuster "Mission Impossible". The movie has not yet been titled and according to IMDB Pro, because of the exotic location of the shooting, the approximate budget of the film may be $200 million. This is an unprecedentedly large amount of money to make a movie.
